UCSZOO

Union of Czech and Slovak zoological gardens was founded in 1990 (as the Union of Czechoslovak Zoological Gardens). Until 2010, it used the abbreviation UCSZ, since then UCSZOO. The founding members were 15 zoos, but the number of members soon expanded to include all 19 state zoos of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This situation lasted for a very long time, until 2017, when the first non-state zoo was added, and a few years later, on the contrary, the 3 most important zoos (all founding members) left the Union.
